The future of the Future Farmers of America

Where lies the future of the National FFA Organization (formerly known as the Future Farmers of America)? Believe it or not, in cities and suburbs as well as rural areas. Many of the young people who now swell the membership of the FFA, half a million strong, "say they do not in the least wish to become farmers, but rather food industry scientists, seed bioengineers, florists, landscapers and renewable fuels engineers."

And so the FFA lives on, by taking farmers out of its name -- and out of its membership.
